Green Arrow #2 (2016) Review

RCO001_1467829037What?! Why is Oliver drowning in the comic? Well my rule is if it’s on the cover I can talk about it. Last issue it was Shado who attacked Oliver and the big cliffhanger was Emiko’s betrayal so now the two have killed him and made it look like he killed himself. I know, crazy! Apparently Emiko is Shado’s daughter, too.

It was an interesting development how everyone reacted to this news if it was surprise, disbelief or sadness. I forgot the guy’s name, but Oliver has a friend that is responsible for his tech and he has very hilarious scenes in there with his ‘Nainai’ (you’ll see what I mean). There was also a return of a character which was something I didn’t expect to happen, Black Canary is definitely on to something and the entire home city of Oliver, Seattle, goes through changes. Schmidt is just killing it with the art and coloring! I am glad such talent is recognized and I can’t wait to see more of his work. Praising his art right now does no justice.

The dialogue is very good and funny. Ben Percy is once again taking a witty character and creating a clever story with it. I feel like there is a mystery in place that we still don’t know about, but will be revealed soon. The ending of this comic makes you think what is going to happen and how is it going to go down. Hopefully I will be able to talk about this in my next review.

Overall Green Arrow #2 has funny and smart dialogue with things to question and keep you on your toes for the rest of the story arc. An improvement from the last issue and if this series will stay on this direction it could be something really hard to forget.
