Welcome to my blog! It is time to take a look at some of the titles Marvel teased us with for Marvel NOW! This is Part 7 so go to my search bar and type, “Marvel now analysis” if you would like to see more. Now that we got that out of the way let’s start. This theme is space!
36. Star-Lord #1
Another Star-Lord series. The last one he has was probably unsuccessful which was a shame because it was very neat, just wasn’t something people would have wanted from a Star-Lord series. This on the other hand seems to be more traditional Peter Quill. Now if you look at the tag is suggests he goes to jail, (obviously) but what’s very interesting is that if you look at the cop it says NYPD! He is on Earth! Why? I got no clue, but I will get more into that in a little bit. For now I wanna focus on who’s writing this, and it seems Zdarsky (Sex Criminals) will! This will be a series people will want. People should be excited, but my predictions says this won’t come out until 2017 because if you look at the ‘talent strip’ it has no artist attached to it. And no! The cover artist doesn’t guarantee an interior artist position. A MODERATE READ.
37. Gamora #1
I never knew I would be excited for a Gamora series. Can you believe that? Why am I saying this, you ask? Nicole Perlman was a co-writer for the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and now writing this series. The movie version of Gamora was really cool. That’s amazing folks! The person in charge of interior penciling is also a good choice. Wouldn’t dream of saying this, but A MUST READ.
38. Rocket Raccoon #1
NOOOOO! Marvel! What are you doing?! We want a Rocket Raccoon and Groot series and not just this! Aside from that I laughed at loud when I saw this title. Look at it and don’t tell me you don’t wanna read this. So Rocket Raccoon is also on Earth! Why? I’ll tell just in a moment why I think this, but for now I wanna say this will be a huge surprise. I don’t know what’s wrong with me today, and I’m A MUST READ-ing every comic that should be A MUST SKIP. That’s the power of Marvel Comics. Very looking forward to this. I am hoping this will actually happen and that this is not just a cover, because if it is…
39. Thanos #1
😱😱😱😱😱😱 Thanos in a solo ongoing? I just finished reading Infinity Gauntlet and then this was announced. Really looking forward to this even if I got no clue what it will be about. We gotta trust Jeff Lemire with his great takes on the X-Men, Bloodshot, Green Arrow, etc. Thanos is a very complex character he can pull off. A MUST READ! I got one question for this….what is that in his eyes? Is that possibly the Phoenix Force?!?! WOW! He can’t go for the Infinity Gauntlet, he’ll take the next best thing. Please be Phoenix Force.
40. Guardians of the Galaxy: Grounded #1
When I first saw this, I could care less. Like why would I care about Guardians of the Galaxy going to Earth? Almost every super hero is on Earth. Then I saw the standalone covers that seem to be tying into this. If this will be what those other covers were, sign me up. I wanna see Groot being stuck at a plant reserve or Drax fighting professional wrestlers! I want that. ‘EPIC FINAL ARC ‘ probably means Bendis’ last take on the team. All these Guardians comics are probably coming in 2017 to coincide with the film release. Now why are they here? I am not caught up with this series, but my guess would be is they just visit Earth. Why can’t it be something simple, you know? If they accidentally crash land on Earth, that would be just dumb. Make it simple! A MUST READ.
41. Silver Surfer #9
Now this is the part of the post where I stop being Oprah and stop giving away “A MUST READ‘s” to every space comic. Silver Surfer has been critically acclaimed with one of the best writing today for Marvel and being nominated a Best Single Issue Award for Silver Surfer #11 (2015) for Eisner Awards, (aka Oscars for comics) but I just can’t get through it. It’s not that it’s bad writing, just mediocre. In my unpopular opinion Dan Slott’s writing always misses the mark on getting to that really good story and this applies here. I am glad Dawn is finally wearing something adult-like at least. A MUST SKIP. That is just me though so you probably shouldn’t listen to me and pick this up for yourself. You’ll most likely like it.
42. Nova #1
This image looks beautiful! Props for Mattina’s art. I’m looking forward to the return of Richard Rider. Sam Alexander is the superior Nova to me, but this should excite many people. The helmet looks beautiful and it’s a great thing it’s not black like the current Novas have. Wouldn’t want him to become a Black Nova. So this is a nice image and all, but there is no creative team announced which is why this will float into my ‘A MUST SKIP’ box. No matter how awesome a character is he can become less awesome with bad writing.
And that’s it for now. Come back a bit later for more parts if you’re interested. Remember, if you wanna read more go to my search bar and type ‘Marvel now analysis’. Follow the blog while you’re here at ComicBooger.
