This battle takes place in a gladiator-like arena on Apokalips, but it starts off different. The two are both tied up to a post. Each has to untie themselves before the other one does it. The first person who unties themselves can attack the opponent even if she’s tied-up.

The ladies are brought up. Both are unconscious and tied up to two separate posts facing each other. Parademons fly in and splash water on the two. Both wake up and look around as to what’s happening. The Parademons fly up to a throne revealing Darkseid to be watching. On the other side of the stadium we have Thanos watching on his throne. Darkseid screams, “May the best one win!” Thanos replies, “Indeed.” Then a sound of a cannon shot fills the air to signify the beginning of the battle.

Gamora and Big Barda try to un-tie themselves from the vastly complicated chains. Gamora reaches for her knife and tries to cut off the chains. Big Barda tries to break out of them with her strength, but nothing helps. Then Barda stomps on the ground so hard that the post tilts. She repeated the process. Gamora’s knife doesn’t work so, she tries to untangle herself with her feat. Then Big Barda stomps for the last time and she’s free. Barda then punches Gamora so hard that she breaks her post and sends the assassin flying in the air

When she lands on the ground and gets up she says, “I am the deadliest woman in the galaxy.” Barda says, “We’ll see about that.” The two run at each other, Gamora with her sword, Big Barda with her Mega-Rod both clang their weapons and push on against them. Big Barda overpowers Gamora and hits the sword sending it far from the two. Big Barda strikes with her rod, but Gamora dodges it and kicks Barda in the face. Barda realizes there is a bomb attached her rod which she throws away. “So, that’s how you wanna do it?” says Big Barda. The bomb goes off, but the rod is unharmed.

The two peruse in hand-to-hand combat. Gamora throws a punch, Barda blocks it. She pushes Gamora grabs her by the head with the right hand and strikes her in the face using a knee. Gamora’s nose is bleeding but she brushes it off. Barda goes for a kick, Gamora catches her foot and lifts it up, but Barda makes flip to regain control. Gamora punches the New God with all her strength. With Barda on the ground, the Daughter of Thanos runs for her sword. When Gamora picks it up she gets shot by a blast. We see the blast being shot from Barda’s Mega-Rod. Barda then teleports behind Gamora and hits her with the rod, but Gamora dodges the attack and stabs Barda in her heart. GAMORA takes out the blade. Big Baroda falls on to the ground dead. Thanos smiles, gets up from his throne and walks away.

Let’s explain this from the start. Big Barda was the one to untangle herself from the post first since she’s married to Master Miracle who is a master at escape artistry. Barda just has more experience getting herself out of those type of situations. Then Barda gets rid of Gamora’s sword by strength, but Gamora gets rid of Big Barda’s rod by attaching a bomb to it in a sneaky way during combat. The two begin the martial arts portion which both are evenly matched at.

Towards the end of the battle Barda’s plan was to stun Gamora, then smash her by getting closer using teleportation. Gamora’s healing factor and reflexes/senses allowed her to recover and dodge the attack. She took this opportunity to surprise Barda and stab her straight in the heart.Maybe Big Barda’s superior strength did help during the fight, but Gamora’s healing factor and enhancements let her win. The Godslayer sword can kill gods and this is no exception for the New Gods. I didn’t even mention that Gamora stood still against the Thing, She-Hulk, and the Mad Titan, Thanos. Need I say more?
