Cheetah vs. Tigra – Marvel vs. DC #6

Welcome! My name is Olaf Lesniak and this is Marvel vs DC! The series that will come out weekly on Saturdays and will pit two famous characters against each other. I will look at both opponents’ skills, powers, abilities, stamina and etc. to help me determine the winner. Today our battle is….

Cheetah vs. Tigra

First we will look at the origins and the basics of each character. We will follow that by looking at Cheetah’s and Tigra’s powers and abilities which would then them lead into battle.

Origins: Cheetah

Barbara Minerva was a criminal who has had many different names in order to stay hidden. One day when a terrorist attack targeted the Pentagon, Wonder Woman fought off the ones who were responsible for the violence. There she met Barbara Minerva and Steve Trevor. Minerva took the opportunity and stole an artifact dagger from the Pentagon and stabbed herself in the heart becoming the Cheetah. She became an archenemy of Wonder Woman since.

  • Identity: Cheetah
  • Alter Ego: Barbara Minerva
  • Occupation(s): Villain, criminal/anthropologist
  • Team Affiliations: Secret Society of Super Villains, Injustice League

Origins: Tigra

Greer Grant was a woman who went through many treatments to obtain peak human levels. Greer was dying when she took up the mantle of the Cat. Her mentor Dr. Tumolo bonded her sole with creatures known as the Cat People in order to keep her alive and on this day forward she became the furry-ious Tigra (gotta give me props for that one).

  • Identity: Tigra
  • Alter Ego: Greer Grant
  • Occupation(s): Hero/police officer/private investigator
  • Team Affiliations: Avengers, New Warriors

  • Agility
  • Razor-Sharp Claws
  • Heightened Senses

Powers & Abilities: Tigra

  • Agility
  • Reflexes
  • Razor-Sharp Claws

Battle!

Cheetah and Tigra are both fierce and wild characters that will fight for a very long time against each other. The Cheetah’s strength is more superior though, since her strength is that equivalent of Wonder Woman’s. Tigra can regularly pick up over 10 tons, but we all know that Wonder Woman is much stronger than just able to pick up over 10 tons. Cheetah’s tail could alone break trees so imagine what she could do with her hands. Now, let’s look at their speeds as they could play into this battle fairly well.

Cheetah vs. Tigra

Tigra can run up to stunning 70 miles per hour. The Cheetah is faster than Wonder Woman and has been trained by Zoom. This is bad news for Tigra, because the Cheetah has another advantage here. Greer’s strength and speed stats may be smaller compared to Minerva’s, but she has the advantage in hand-to-hand as Tigra has been trained by no other than Captain America himself (WOW! Cap has trained a lot of people over the years) and had police training. It is also important to note that before Greer was ever the Tigra she was the Cat who only relied on her fighting skills giving Tigra the expierience.

Cheetah fighting Wonder Woman

Another small factor for Greer Grant which could potentially play into this is that she has a minor healing factor. It is minor but it is still there. Cheetah doesn’t possess such martial artistry skills nor healing, but her reflexes are what could most likely counter Tigra’s fighting skills. In fact it seems that the Cheetah will be the winner here.

Tigra fighting Ms. Marvel

Don’t get me wrong Tigra could heal from couple of wounds, but we are talking about the Cheetah who barely misses a hit and even manages to knock out Wonder Woman so, basically these wounds would be too much for Tigra. And the final support I have for the victory of Cheetah is that she fought the Justice League (which at the time included Superman, Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, Batman and Wonder Woman) and has succeeded against them. Anyone who can stand against the entire League alone even at least once can be considered a powerhouse and that was not a fluke! Tigra beat really powerful powerhouses such as Graviton, but she usually wins by operatating in a group. All these feats on top of her strength/speed make the Cheetah the winner.

 WINNER: Cheetah
