Catwoman vs. Black Cat – Marvel vs. DC #2

Welcome! My name is Olaf Lesniak and this is Marvel vs DC! The series that will come out weekly on Saturdays and will pit two famous characters against each other. I will look at both opponents’ skills, powers, abilities, stamina and etc. to help me determine the winner. Today our battle is….

Catwoman vs. Black Cat!

First we will look at the origins and the basics of each character. We will follow that by Catwoman’s and Black Cat’s powers and abilities which would then lead them into a battle against each other.

Origins: Catwoman

Selina Kyle as a young girl lived in a house parented by alcoholics which forced her to run away. Selina lived on the streets learning to steal until she was caught and send into an orphanage, where she later as a teen ran away from (and “borrowed” money from it on her way out). Selina lived a life where she stole valuables and diamonds undetected when one night she meets a ninja. She follows that ninja to an Academy where she is taught the ways of martial arts. She later leaves the school and finds out the existences of Batman roaming Gotham City which inspires her to become Catwoman.

Black Cat with a stolen artifact

This is the ultimate battle between our 2 favorite Cat Mistresses so let’s see who will come out on top. Catwoman has been a very important character over the decades from helping out Batman and his threats to even fighting him. She has trained along highly skilled ninjas and has been their top student! All this and being taught street-fighting and boxing by Wildcat (one of the best fighters in the DC Universe) made her a martial artist powerhouse. This is a feat Black Cat has never reached although she does know a good number of martial arts herself. Also, Catwoman has fought along the likes of Batman while Black Cat has fought along with Spider-Man and it is obvious that Batman is a better martial artist than Spider-Man which says a lot by their fighting styles.

Catwoman vs. Black Cat

Now Catwoman is strong with her martial arts, but Black Cat’s advantage lies with her probability field manipulation. This ability allows her opponents to receive “bad luck” which means that she will be the least likely one to make a mistake in an equally or a tiny bit outmatched battle. The thing about this ability is that it failed her at times so she needs to be able to prevail without this advantage. She has been able to do it, but sometimes it knocks her off guard.

Both ladies have been great in using their claws, agility and stealth, that means they are equally divided in those categories. Both women are known to use their whips. Black Cat has the stronger one which is made out of metal, but Catwoman is more experienced with hers being able to disarm her opponents with it. Another advantage Black Cat has is her grappling hooks that may allow Felicia to move from place to place, building to building much easier than it would be for Selina, although Catwoman is an excellent jumper from building to building (she could use her whip once again for this use).

It may feel that if these women would ever encounter each other Catwoman would win thanks to her huge advantage in martial artistry, but Felicia has the biggest tool in her belt that is unseen which is her strength. Black Cat is so strong that she can fight opponents out of Catwoman’s league such as Sabertooth (meaner Wolverine for those who don’t know). Catwoman was never able to stand against such threats without help. In FACT Catwoman quit the Outsiders in issue 2 of the Outsiders because she believed that her opponents (such as OMAC) were too much for her to handle. This immerse advantage on top of Black Cat’s 50/50 reliable “bad luck” ability will make her a winner. Sorry Catwoman, but you can’t kiss your way out of this one.

WINNER: Black Cat

Black Cat Wins!
